Drivers of STB-less
The capabilities of the Connected TV have dramatically increased in the last few years, making many of the functions inside a set-top box redundant and providing operators with a way to connect the TV set directly to their IPTV platform. This saves significant cost for operators (device, stock, installation, helpdesk) and it greatly improves the user experience (better aesthetics, single remote, less wires, new integrated services). But moving from a custom set-top box to an off-the-shelf TV set presents a new set of challenges.
On November 6 & 7, 2013, innovation catalyst TNO, with support from the Open IPTV Forum (OIPF), will organize a seminar focusing on STB-less IPTV, in Amsterdam - the Netherlands. This in-depth seminar will bring the latest developments, challenges and technologies to deliver IPTV directly to the TV without a set top box. Learn about the operator's IPTV practices; the evolution of smart TVs; the progress in managed and over the top video delivery; developments in standards; and the lessons learned from a proof of concept that the organizers have realized together with a dozen leading industry partners over the last year. This seminar will provide useful, in-depth information and informed analysis.
There is a great line-up of speakers including Deutsche Telecom, HbbTV forum, TeliaSonera, Orange, TP Vision, SmarDTV, Cisco, Agama, EBU, Alcatel Lucent and DTV Labs. More information can be found at www.iptvseminar.com. The complete programme of the event can be downloaded here.
